‘Living Space’ – Final Images

For the mini project of living space I wasn’t sure what I would do so I decided to go for a walk around the area that I live and take photos. I first found an abandoned toy pram on the side of a country path, I really like how the photograph turned out and continued on my walk looking to perhaps take pictures of the same theme; Man made items abandoned in nature. however on my walk I didn’t find many more items that where interesting to photograph so I then looked at how nature has reclaimed its land where man-made items once where. a spot I found particularly interesting where the Isabella coke ovens in Newburn.

The Isabella coke ovens were built in 1869 for Spencer’s Steelworks and the Solway Hematite Iron Company in Newburn. The ovens were used to process coal to produce coke for the steelworks. I found this very interesting to see something that was once used to industrial purposes has been left for so many years that nature has completely taken back what once was its own, trees and ivy and other plant life have thrived all over the site where they used to be.
