-As an artist in the second year of my fine art degree, I tend to make works that are experimental in their materials and processes. My work is often sculptural using obscure and arcane objects. I choose to use found objects as they have an ironically sentimental value to them. Objects that once were bought out of love, or whatever other emotion are then discarded into charity shops, markets etc. making their memories fade away to nothing. I buy these items and use them in my work to give them a new memory, to make up for their lost memories. My particular area of interest in my work is to provoke a reaction out of the audience, whether it is a positive or negative opinion, I often utilize a slight “shock factor” in my work, exploring dark undertones to my pieces that ensures a lasting impression. When I first started out making art work it was to a lesser shock factor as my work is today, my work would still provoke reactions out of people and that was something that I enjoyed happening because even if someone really dislikes the art I produce, I still provoked some kind of emotional reaction inside of them. What I aim to produce with my art is to stand out of the crowd, and create my own working style that can be recognised.
